He’ll be 2D animated in the actual film, but I thought it would be fun and helpful to work out his body in 3D space. Sculpted in Super Sculpey.

The short film that the above gif is from, “On the Day You Were Born”, is finally done and screening at The New Parkway Theater in Oakland on May 10th at 7pm!
I spent the last year animating this beast in nights and weekends and I’m super excited it’s going to be out in the world soon.
It’s playing with 2 other short films by produced by Cant Not and should be a fun night of weird independent shorts at an awesome independent theater.
Not in the Bay? It’s also going to be screening in LA at the Los Feliz theater too!

Another peek into how I animated and composited the 2d fx for a shot in the animated short I helped make at Github. Animated straight ahead and colored in Toon Boom. Compositing and post effects in AE.
A little look into how I built the 2d FX for Hubot’s Thruster in the Github Universe animated short. Animation was done in Toon Boom, with compositing in After Effects.
(The final gif had to pretty gif-i-fied to fit under Tumblr’s fascist 3mb size limit. Watch the short HERE to see it in glorious full resolution)
The animated short I’ve been working on at Github for the last few months just came out! With a late-in-the-game story re-write and a hard deadline of this week, we ended up producing this entire short it under 6 weeks. So much love and long days were put in on this one. Check it out!
Updated the old reel for a new year!
I spent a few months this year animating most and composting all of this video for Github. Most of the design was handled by the super talented in-house animation team at Github, who even animated a few shots when I got overwhelmed. Lots of love and frame by frame animating in photoshop went into this one and excited to share!
Some gifs from THIS AWESOME VIDEO I animated and composited for Github this last year! I had some amazing design support from the super talented internal animation team at Github and am super proud of our work on this one.
Shot on a white cyc stage, composited in After Effects, and animated almost entirely in Photoshop by hand (two shots were done in Toonboom Harmony). Very few keyframes in this one!
